'Prayaas- Charity with a Smile' by GLS-FOC

The Faculty of Commerce, GLS University, successfully organized a heartfelt charity programme, 'Prayaas- Charity with a Smile,' demonstrating the spirit of service and compassion. This initiative aimed to extend support to various underprivileged groups by visiting multiple institutions and contributing essential items gathered by the students and faculty coordinators.

On 7th January, 2025, to understand the importance of education, the team also visited Municipal Schools No. 2 and 26, providing underprivileged children with school supplies, books, and hygiene kits. Through fun-filled activities and motivational talks, students encouraged young learners to pursue their studies with enthusiasm and determination.

A special Yoga Workshop for Mental Strength was conducted for board students at Blind People Association, Memnagar on 4th February, 2025. Yoga experts guided students through meditation and breathing techniques to help them manage stress and anxiety during exams. This session was highly appreciated for promoting mental well-being among students preparing for crucial academic milestones.

Another significant visit was made to the Blind Girls School @Andh Kanya Prakash School on 7th February, 2025, where students engaged in interactive sessions with visually impaired students, sharing moments of joy and learning. They contributed books, stationery, and other learning materials to aid their education and personal development.

As a part of 'Prayaas,' students visited Smt. Maniben Tribhuvandas Matru Gruh, an old age home on 10th February, 2025, where they interacted with elderly residents, offering companionship and emotional support. They distributed daily essentials, warm clothes, and snacks, ensuring a meaningful experience for both the students and the senior citizens. This visit emphasized the importance of care and attention for the elderly, leaving a lasting impact on the participants.

Further extending its humanitarian efforts, the programme included a visit to Sathya Sai Heart Hospital for Children @Sarkhej Highway, Ahmedabad 15th February, 2025, where essential stationeries and games were donated for young patients undergoing treatment. Students interacted with children and their families, spreading warmth and encouragement in their challenging times.

Throughout these initiatives, students actively participated in gathering and distributing necessary items under the guidance of faculty coordinators. 'Prayaas' reinforced the values of empathy, social responsibility, and collective effort, making a profound difference in the lives of many. The initiative successfully instilled a sense of gratitude and commitment to community welfare among students, marking another milestone in the Faculty of Commerce’s dedication to social service.
