3 days International Model United Nations (MUN) at GLS FOC

An International 3-days event, FOC MUN 3.0, was organized by the Faculty of Commerce at GLS University. The event kicked off with a vibrant opening ceremony, featuring a session on the Rules of Procedure on the first day. Over 500 delegates from more than 120 schools and colleges, representing over 15 cities across 5 different states, actively participated in the event.

The chief guest, renowned industrialist Mr. Chiranjiv Patel, a renowned entrepreneur, mentor and changemaker , addressed the students and motivated them. He emphasized that self-confidence and relationships always lead to success and that the exchange of good ideas is crucial. He also stressed that a sense of social welfare is just as important in student life, and shared that he himself contributes significantly to social welfare. Dr. Dharmesh Shah, the Provost of the university, encouraged students with the thought, "Where failure ends, success begins." He further highlighted the importance of having good friends in life who support you every step of the way.

The session, led by experienced members of the Executive Board, provided delegates with a thorough understanding of MUN procedures. This session served as a guide for new delegates, preparing them for future debates by explaining the rules and processes of MUN in detail.

Impressive committees such as UNHRC, UNEP, ECOSOC, UNCSW, UNGA DISEC, UNGA ESS, Lok Sabha, Gujarat Legislative Assembly, AIPPM, Dalal Street, and Business Crisis held meaningful discussions in their respective areas, formulating strategic policies.

The third day was filled with committee session discussions. The day started with sessions in various committees, where delegates discussed crucial issues and sought strategic solutions through debates. Committees such as UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) provided a platform for discussions on environmental conservation and development, while UNHRC (United Nations Human Rights Council) focused on human rights protection. UNGA DISEC (United Nations General Assembly - Disarmament and International Security Committee) concentrated on global peace and disarmament issues, and UNGA ESS (United Nations General Assembly - Economic and Social Summit) aimed to find solutions for economic development and social welfare.

ECOSOC (Economic and Social Council) held important discussions on economic and social development, while UNCSW (United Nations Commission on the Status of Women) focused on women empowerment issues. In the Indian committees, GLA (Gujarat Legislative Assembly) deliberated on state-wide issues, while AIPPM (All India Political Parties Meet) and Lok Sabha focused on Indian political matters.

Additionally, the International Press (IP) enhanced the discussions through journalistic documentation. Dalal Street discussed the ups and downs of the stock market and its impact, while Business Crisis addressed solutions for various unforeseen issues in the business world. The event concluded with a closing ceremony where winning delegates were honored with trophies, certificates, and prizes.
