Under the initiative of the Ministry of Education (MHRD) and AICTE, the "Smart India Hackathon" (SIH), the world’s largest open innovation program, provides a national platform for students to tackle real-world problems. The grand finale of SIH 2024 took place on December 11th and 12th in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, showcasing brilliant innovations from across the country.
A team of creative minds from the Faculty of Engineering & Technology, BTech (CS&E) - Semester II, represented their institution in the event. The team comprised Mr. Khush Purohit, Ms. Bhakti Patel, Ms. Anamdasu Amulya, Ms. Jariwala Zurin, Mr. Shreyas Agrawal, and Mr. Dhiptanshu Malik, mentored by Dr. Vishal Narvani and Ms. Shivangi Gandhi.
The team addressed a challenge from the Ministry of Panchayati Raj by developing an innovative gamified platform to simulate and plan village infrastructure activities. Utilizing 3D visualization, GIS data, and drone survey maps, the platform provides a virtual environment where users can design, budget, and plan critical projects like roads, drainage systems, and streetlights. Inspired by games like "Farmville," it empowers villagers, youth, and planners with an interactive tool for effective resource allocation and infrastructure development, showcasing the team's commitment to leveraging technology for rural progress and earning praise for its creative approach to grassroots challenges.
