GLS was founded by prominent figures such as Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Shri Ganesh Mavlankar, the first Speaker of the country, and Shri I. M. Nanavati with the vision of excellence in education. GLS University was founded in April 2015 in accordance with the Gujarat Private University Act of 2009. GLS University has rapidly established itself as a renowned institution, boasting a large student body, numerous departments, and a wide range of programs across various fields.
